Are you at risk of catching the flu virus? Try our safe, convenient and low cost influenza vaccination service. Flu (also known as influenza) is a highly infectious illness caused by the flu virus. Some people are at risk of developing serious complications if they catch flu, such as pregnant women and elderly people. Flu vaccines provide effective protection against the flu virus. These change over time, so new vaccines are made every year. Obtaining flu vaccination can often be a hassle, requiring several trips to different surgeries and pharmacies.
Our service is safe and convenient as you can get vaccinated in one visit under one roof. Our pharmacist can now administer flu vaccines, after undergoing the same rigorous training you will find from nurses at your local GP centre.
When you are prescribed a medicine to treat a long-term condition for the first time, the pharmacist will support you to use the medicine safely and to best effect. The pharmacist will talk to you approximately two weeks after you first receive the medicine to see how you are getting on with it and to discuss any problems you may have.
A second follow-up will be a month after you first receive the medicine. The service is only available to people using certain medicines; our pharmacist will give you details and offer this free NHS service, if this is available to you.
We keep records of all your prescriptions dispensed by us as well as records of other services we provide to you. This helps us check for possible problems, such as reactions between medicines and will help us deal with any queries you may have. Our computer allows us to keep these records. We are registered with The Information Commissioners Office and comply with the Data Protection Act and the NHS code of practice on confidentiality. If you want to discuss the records we keep, please ask to speak to a member of staff or the pharmacist.
